Laughter

What does it mean to laugh? The definition found in Wikipedia says that it is a physical reaction that occurs in humans and certain other species of primates. This consists of a rhythmical expression of breath that often is audible due to contractions of the diaphragm which is a part of the respiratory system. This happens when someone is being tickled or after hearing a funny joke that they found hilarious. Or sometimes it’s due to seeing something funny happen around them that can cause someone to laugh.
In this crazy world, many people are living on the street and do not have much in their lives that makes them laugh. What they don’t realise is that humour is infectious: when someone laughs you just can’t sit right beside them and not laugh also. You have to participate in the act because your body is going to react to it. Laughter is contagious much more so than any cough or sneeze. What would the world be without laughter? It would be a dead world with everyone angry at each other for any and everything. That is when there would be a lot of war, far worse than what is taking place today. Thank goodness that there is laughter to take our focus off all the negative things in life. Plus, when it is shared with others it brings people together – even those who didn’t want to be a part of it but they just can’t resist. It also increases happiness between many couples and shared intimacy. Did you know that laughter strengthen your immune system? Yes it does. It also boosts your energy, lessons any pain that you may be feeling and it also protects you from thinking about the many challenges that are happening in your life. Laughter is the best medicine because once you start laughing you feel one hundred percent better and it doesn’t cost a thing.
If you didn’t know it before then you know it now – laughter is the main ingredient for reducing stress, pain and conflict if you are having trouble at home with your husband or wife. When you laugh over the little things it lessens the burden that is holding you down. It brings hope into your heart that tomorrow things will be different and in many ways it builds up broken relationships that have been deteriorating for years because all you sometimes needs in life is someone to share a laugh with.
Have you ever noticed that when you argue with someone close to you and they tell a joke, no matter angry or upset you may be you still have to laugh? Laughter makes you feel good inside, and the anger that was building up slowly starts to vanish away. It is always good to be positive so when negative circumstances find their way into your life, you know how to handle them instead of sulking and hiding away. When you do that things will never get better, but when you realise that laughter is the best policy no matter the outcome – happiness, loss or disappointment – you know that you can still smile at the end of the day.
Many people are in a state where they feel sad or depressed most of the time because they have allowed depression to take over. Sometimes they can’t eat, sleep or even talk to those close to them. What they need is a good dose of medicine filled with laughter because it gives a man or woman the courage to face another day. Along with that it provides the strength that you haven’t been able to find while you were depressed.
When you are feeling down, when you feel like there is no one there to help you and you feel like giving up, just take a look at yourself and laugh. There are probably times that you can look back at when you made some crazy mistake or even had an embarrassing moment. That is the best way to look at yourself less seriously and then you can take the day one step at a time. You can laugh with your friends that you have not seen in awhile building a positive bond that you were unable to do when you were feeling lonely because without people how can we survive. Life without family and friends is a terrible and lonely way to go especially when you are having issues.
Try to laugh at situations that you would normally be upset about because sometimes things always work out better when you are able to do that and let go. When you do that then you are able to improve your mood and enjoy the things that are happening around you. Keep things in your car, work place, and your office in your home that will always make you smile and remember the good things in life. Sometimes even a joke on the desk or even your laptop can keep you smiling throughout the day even when people try to get you down.
Don’t let the fear come into your mind saying that you cannot laugh because you can always do that. The ability to laugh, play and have fun with your family and friends not only makes your life more enjoyable but it also helps you solve the problems that is going on in your life. Therefore you can connect with others and be yourself around them. People should always incorporate humor and play in their daily life with children or without children because it helps a lot to improve your relationship for the better, so if it was bad it can become better and if it was good it can then become great. Without laughter in this world how can you go on moving from one destination to another without laughing? I wonder how boring and sad that will be for yourself and those people around you so make laughter a priority in your everyday lives because laughter is the best policy and it can be so much fun.
