Finding your Feet in Life
The journey towards healing, wholeness and becoming who we really are is often about unlearning the things that we have learned that have held us back throughout our lives. It requires learning to see ourselves through the eyes of compassion, and forgiving ourselves for our mistakes. It requires us to be kind to ourselves. Only when we can offer our own self those things can we offer these things to others. If we are harsh upon our self, then we will be harsh towards others.
The journey towards healing is not a quick fix. It requires introspection; owning what we’ve done that hasn’t been respectful or ethical or honest; and facing our shadow. This can take a good ten years if we want to be really honest about what we’re doing, and it requires us to constantly evaluate ourselves and how we behave given any situation. It will never be a quick fix solution, and our deepest inner wounds will keep being triggered until we have gone past the pain of them. The first part of our healing can be most successfully achieved when we create new patterns of thinking about ourselves, and this can be done using affirmations, which can be auditory (you hear them), spoken (by you of course) and written (in a journal or on paper). It will calm the mind from the constant negative chatter that goes on in there, and if you bombard your mind with positive suggestions it will overwhelm the negative subconscious mind with positivity to the point where it can no longer object and will henceforth only repeat good things back to you.
