How Gratitude Can Lift Us Out of Depression
Believe it or not, there’s a drug-free way to restore happiness. All that it involves is taking a little time to change our thinking. We often get into the habit of negative thinking. Perhaps we grew up in a home where one of our caregivers was always complaining and seeing only the worst in a situation. If so, we’ve been conditioned to do the same. Here’s how gratitude can lift us out of depression.
Show Gratitude for Small Mercies

Our adversities usually don’t last forever, so when we look at things through the eyes of gratitude, we are able to see that whatever difficult set of circumstances are in our lives, it is just a passing phase.
How Truly Blessed We Are
Choosing to see how each event in life has enriched us rather than feeling that it placed obstacles in our path, is a form of gratitude. Those obstacles were the “weights” at the “gym of life” that made us strong enough to arrive where we find ourselves today. Being grateful for every small blessing that we have, including our physical health and our ability to see, taste, touch, hear and smell, all of those things will help us to appreciate that we are richly blessed. In fact, we are truly blessed way beyond the level that we have in the past acknowledged. But after reading this article, you’ll remember to stop and count your blessings, for in doing so you’ll easily conquer any negativity that you find yourself experiencing.

We each want to feel that we are making a difference, don’t we, so by telling someone how they have done well, we help them to feel good about themselves.
