Poetry by Kahlil Gibran on Love
Here’s some wonderful Poetry by Kahlil Gibran on Love, set to a series of slides that bring a visual story to his wonderful writings.
When you think deeply about what the poet is saying here, you’ll realise that he’s giving a recipe for the success of a relationship. When two people bond, they should not become totally absorbed in one another. Rather, they should still live their own lives separate of each other but dedicate themselves to being present when in each other’s company.
Love and commitment does not mean ownership. It does not mean that one or either partner can’t have a life outside of the relationship. Love and commitment means making the time spent together as happy as possible. True love means giving one another your undivided attention when you are together. Anything less than that is just laziness and using the other.
When the proper amount of care is given to each other in a relationship, each partner will grow because of it. If you don’t listen to what the other wants and try to accommodate it (within reason, of course) then you’re not really making an effort.
Love can really hurt sometimes too, because there’s no one closer than your partner. When they say things to you sometimes it can bring up stuff to deal with. Often your partner is right when they comment on your behaviour. It is worth listening to what they have to say.
