Romantic Ideas For Guys

There’s nothing like a nice surprise to keep the romance going on in your relationship. If you have run out of ideas for what to do to get the love flowing, try these Romantic Ideas for Guys to make your lady feel special.

Romantic Idea Number One

If your spouse/partner is going away for a few days, tell her that you are worried about her therefore you have organised a bodyguard to look after her. Then give her a small teddy bear.

Romantic Idea Number Two

Buy a packet of glow-in-the-dark stars, and stick the stars on the ceiling above your bed.  Spell out a message such as “I love you!”, and when the lights go down your message will be revealed.

Romantic Idea Number Three

On a special occasion, buy your spouse/partner eleven real red roses and one artificial red rose. Place the artificial one in the centre of the bouquet, and attach a card that says “I love you until the last rose fades.”

Romantic Idea Number Four

Buy the domain name of your spouse/partner’s name if it is available. For example, www.ChristineAngelaKing.com . Then create a webpage with a romantic poem for her, and a picture of a red rose. When she is surfing the net, casually ask her if she’s ever checked to see if her own name is available as a domain name. Let her type it in to discover her own page.

Romantic Idea Number Five

Buy a stylish hand mirror and give it to your spouse/partner as a gift. Include a card in the box saying “In this mirror you will see an image of the most beautiful woman in the world.”

Romantic Idea Number Six

Take a book that your spouse/partner is reading and using a pencil, underline letters and spaces in a section of the book that she is yet to read. Spell out something romantic such as “I love you.” The underlined letters will make her curious and with a bit of luck, she will write them down. Spend time to encode a more personal message such as, “Dear Belinda, I really love you honey.” You can be sure she’ll melt at the knees when she figures it all out.

Romantic Idea Number Seven

Have flowers delivered to your spouse/partner’s workplace. She will not only enjoy the flowers but will receive comments and attention from her office mates which will add to her enjoyment.

Romantic Idea Number Eight

While walking with your spouse/partner on a weekend getaway, pick up a smooth stone and say that you’re going to keep it as a special memento of your trip away together. Later, have a jeweler engrave the stone with lovely message such as “I love you Rebecca,” and give it to her as a gift.

Romantic Idea Number Nine

Drive into the country and find a grassy hill. Lie down together and look up at the clouds. Play the kids game of looking for shapes in the cloud formations.

Romantic Idea Number Ten

Get a piece of paper and some coloured crayons. Draw a bright childlike picture with a bright smiley sun and two stick figures holding hands. Add labels with your two names pointing to the figures. Write “I Love You” inside a heart.

Next, get a large formal envelope. Place your drawing inside and then type up a formal address label of your spouse/partner’s work. Mail it to her so that she receives it in the middle of the day.

Romantic Idea Number Eleven

Memorise one of Shakespeare’s love sonnets and recite it to your spouse/partner when you are in a romantic setting such as a Botanical Garden. Don’t just suddenly start reciting poetry as this will sound corny.

While you are cuddling her, ask in a joking manner. “So is now a good time to recite a love poem to you?” She will probably say yes, expecting you to come up with something of the “Roses are Red….” variety.

Instead, look her in the eyes and recite the sonnet while you gently stroke her face. Try the sonnet below. If this is too long, just memorise the first four and the last two lines.

SONNET 18

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimm’d;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st;
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Romantic Idea Number Twelve

If your spouse/partner has to work late, take a lunch box and fill it with some of her favourite things. Such as chocolates, herbal teas, cookies, and a small teddy bear.

Next, get a piece of paper and write, “Michelle’s (or whatever your spouse/partner’s name is) Late Night Survival Pack”.

Draw a big red cross underneath this and stick the paper on the top of the box. Tell her to open the box when times get really tough.

Romantic Idea Number Thirteen

If you are walking past a park together, take your spouse/partner over to the swings and give her a ride on the swings. This will likely bring back happy memories from her childhood.

Romantic Idea Number Fourteen

Leave a long stemmed rose where your spouse/partner will find it and leave a note saying, “Thank you for entering my life and becoming so important to me.”

Romantic Idea Number Fifteen

If your spouse/partner is starting a new job, but a copy of “The Sound of Music” soundtrack, or download the song that you’ll need from Youtube. Send an MP3 of the song “I Have Confidence” to her, or send the link from Youtube to her while she is driving to work or on the bus or train. Add your own words in the message attached saying “Good luck honey! I have confidence in you.”

Romantic Idea Number Sixteen

Buy a small decorated gift box, a sheet of coloured tissue paper, a bottle of scented massage oil and a blank card. Line the box with the tissue paper, place the bottle of massage oil inside the box, and write the following message on the card:  I know a great Masseur. For an appointment phone (your telephone number). Leave it for her to discover when you are not around – she will love it!

Romantic Idea Number Seventeen

When your spouse/partner has had a really long, hard day, run a hot bath for her. Pour some fragrant bath oil into the tub and gently bathe her from head to toe. Carry her into the bedroom. Gently towel her dry and tuck her into a bed made with fresh sheets. Then kiss her on the forehead and leave her to fall asleep peacefully.

Romantic Idea Number Eighteen

For this idea you need to load a piece of music that you both love to your phone or MP3 player. If you and your spouse/partner have a favourite song, make sure that you have it loaded when you go away on a romantic holiday together.

When you are somewhere really special and romantic, ask your spouse/partner if she would like to dance. Place one earpiece of your headset in her ear and one in your own and enjoy your private dance floor.

This way of surprising her is particularly effective if the spot that you have chosen is not normally somewhere that people would dance. For example, the top of the lookout at the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains, NSW. Or, the top of a really tall building at sunset in a city that you don’t normally go to but are there because of your holiday.

Okay, so that’s all for our tips for guys today. There’ll be another article like this along in a few weeks time.
