What is Love?

What is Love?

what is love?

1 Corinthians 13: 4 – 8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

This powerful passage from the Bible gives us the traits of what it means to be the embodiment of Love. One thing that many people forget in their search for love is that love isn’t outside of ourselves. It comes from within. Unfortunately in homes where Domestic Violence is prevalent though, children don’t witness good examples of people who love one another or who love themselves. Often they too become victims of abuse, which causes them to yearn and pine for the love that they didn’t experience in the home that they grew up in. Consequently they often become the co-dependents, the alcoholics and the adults with addictive personalities. Often too, unless God operates through the people in their lives in order to heal them, they remain broken for years. Only the love of God can heal them, which can only happen if the right people are allowed to help them. People who are warriors of the Christ Light, for whom the sword they carry is one made of Love.
