Let Me Be Myself

Let Me be Myself

A short story about saving yourself.

Lying on sofa, eyes on the roof, I looked back on my life. Am I what I meant to be? A daughter, sister, mother and a wife or simply a necessity needed to complete the cycle of life? Do I stand somewhere? Or is my sigh of grief not heard by anybody else, not even God? Please, let me be myself! Continue reading

Love and Respect Yourself

Love and Respect Yourself

OL ©

How many people in this world respect and love themselves? Not many people can say that they do because they are so self-conscious that they find it very hard to love themselves. If that state of mind is left to continue, it will break them down more than they are already. Overcoming the negative feelings that you have about yourself can be very hard to do and some people find it very difficult to let go of the negatives that they have. How can you love someone when you can’t even love and respect yourself? When you don’t love and respect yourself, the person whom you say you love will hurt and misuse your love for them. That why it’s so important to first learn to love yourself and respect who you are because there is no one else like you. Continue reading

Finding Your Feet in Life

finding your feet in life

Finding your Feet in Life

The journey towards healing, wholeness and becoming who we really are is often about unlearning the things that we have learned that have held us back throughout our lives. It requires learning to see ourselves through the eyes of compassion, and forgiving ourselves for our mistakes. It requires us to be kind to ourselves. Only when we can offer our own self those things can we offer these things to others. If we are harsh upon our self, then we will be harsh towards others. Continue reading

What is Love?

What is Love?

what is love?

1 Corinthians 13: 4 – 8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

This powerful passage from the Bible gives us the traits of what it means to be the embodiment of Love. One thing that many people forget in their search for love is that love isn’t outside of ourselves. It comes from within. Unfortunately in homes where Domestic Violence is prevalent though, children don’t witness good examples of people who love one another or who love themselves. Often they too become victims of abuse, which causes them to yearn and pine for the love that they didn’t experience in the home that they grew up in. Consequently they often become the co-dependents, the alcoholics and the adults with addictive personalities. Often too, unless God operates through the people in their lives in order to heal them, they remain broken for years. Only the love of God can heal them, which can only happen if the right people are allowed to help them. People who are warriors of the Christ Light, for whom the sword they carry is one made of Love.

A Heartwarming Story!

plump female

John Blanchard stood up from the bench, straightened his Army uniform, and studied the crowd of people making their way through Grand Central Station. He looked for the girl whose heart he knew, but whose face he didn’t, the girl with the rose.

His interest in her had begun thirteen months before in a Florida library. Taking a book off the shelf he found himself intrigued, not with the words of the book, but with the notes penciled in the margin. The soft handwriting reflected a thoughtful soul and insightful mind. In the front of the book, he discovered the previous owner’s name, Miss Hollis Maynell.

With time and effort he located her address. She lived in New York City. He wrote her a letter introducing himself and inviting her to correspond. The next day he was shipped overseas for service in World War II. During the next year and one month the two grew to know each other through the mail. Each letter was a seed falling on a fertile heart. A romance was budding. Blanchard requested a photograph, but she refused. She felt that if he really cared, it wouldn’t matter what she looked like.
