Women around the world are murdered every day by their spouse who has gone mad in the process of wanting to control her every move. It is a very sad story, but it makes a very worthwhile and valid point, even though it is not an Australian story, but rather, is a story of a woman in America. Breaking the repeating pattern of abuse can take a lifetime. If you witnessed your mother being abused, chances are that you too will be abused, especially if either one or both parents were abusive towards you as well. You’ll repeat the family patterns until you break them, and you’ll pass them down to your own children. Making sure that this doesn’t happen requires awareness and a commitment to your own healing. It requires pulling out of the hustle and bustle of life in order to take time to work upon yourself.
