Well I haven’t posted any of my own writings here for a while now because I’ve been writing a novel for teenage girls. I’m almost finished editing and formatting it, and shortly it will go on sale. I’ve written it so that teen readers can get lost in the story line and relate to the experiences of the heroine when they are growing up in a dysfunctional home where there is violence and verbal abuse, and where the effects of that flow over into other areas of their lives. Here’s a bit about the first novel in the series of seven:
The Bravehearts of Belgrave High
Once in a while comes a tale of heroism that lifts you out of the mundane and into magical worlds beyond. Such are the Tolemac Chronicles and the exploits of our heroine Viviane.
Let’s face it, growing up has never been easy. Finding your way on that difficult journey between childhood and adulthood can be a lonely experience. Especially if you feel you are different from other people, left wondering desperately where you fit in. The Chronicles explore these experiences as they follow the journey of Viviane, our teenage heroine. Continue reading →
Panorama reveals harrowing footage and other evidence of domestic violence incidents that now account for a third of all recorded assaults with injury in England and Wales. Filmed by police response teams equipped with body-worn video cameras, this new style of evidence gathering is helping to bring perpetrators to justice. But years of coercive control and terror often lie behind the violence. Panorama hears from wives, mothers and children who have also endured non-violent domestic abuse, which is now likely to be made a criminal offence in its own right.
If you, or someone you know, has been affected by the issues raised in this video about domestic abuse, contact an organisation close to you.
It was a horrific experience that the woman in this video went through. It is very typical of many cases of domestic abuse for the woman to feel that she can’t talk to anyone about what is going on. Also, it is typical that she won’t tell the police what is happening to her for fear of repercussions from her violent partner. Continue reading →
Have you ever had a friend that no matter what you told her, she always came up with a better way to do the thing that you want to do? Or she has a different option about what you should buy to what you have said you’re about to buy? Or she has another choice about where to take your life which is opposite to the direction that you want for your life? Nothing that you ever say seems to be right for you according to her….nothing ever satisfies her – she always knows better than you do. Abuse doesn’t only occur in relationships, it occurs in friendships too. Continue reading →
Will Our Love Last? No one will ever know. One of the most valuable lessons we can learn from life is this: Try as we might, we will never have all the answers. We can wonder for the rest of our days whether we are doing the right thing…. continuing in the best relationship and following the best paths towards tomorrow, but no one is ever going to answer those questions for us.
